un fel de continuare a traditiei (sau aici) nu tocmai respectate in care incerc sa mai redau unele discutii interesante avute. saptamana trecuta am luat pranzul cu un ministru de externe dintr-un stat nou membru UE. iata cateva subiecte abordate de el… au fot mai multe dar nu le pot pot pentru ca vizeaza tara respectiva. din cate vedeti – principalele preocupari tin de criza economica si reforma UE:
- 5 years ago a meltdown in china would have been satisfying, but today no. that would be too damaging to us.
- UK is not taking the new member states seriously. we agree on many things, but they have illusions of grandeur.
- EU growth should come from more integration in the single market and cutting the Common agricultural policy (not more borrowing).
- it is hypocritical to expect of Ukraine to fulfil EU standards without giving it an accession perspecctive.
- the best friends to the ministries of defence in Central Europe are the Russian military. As a result of their statements – our militaries have serious arguments not to have their budgets cut.
- we can work our guts out for Ukraine, and then they do something stupid again…
- in the areas that matter to us – Belarus is already Russia (energy and military)
- Central Europe lost its sense of direction after accession.
- it is the last EU financial perspective where we benefit from EU funds. we need it. we are doing now basic infrastructure like Western Europe did in the 50-60s.
- Eu member states national political systems are bad enough at producing/electing leaders. Then add to this a second layer – at the EU – where the system is geared towards getting people without character.
- economic growth will bring legitimacy.
- we need to go back to the community method. rising intergovermentalism is locking us into blockage + merkozy. there is an increasing coalition against this in the EU.
